The first Black Gold "Off Your Trolley" Derby was held on October 17th 2009 at Whites Road in Kaitangata.
29 entrants braved the mud and challenging course for an awesome day in the hills.
The second Black Gold "Off Your Trolley" Derby was held on April 11th 2010.
The second Annual Black Gold "Off Your Trolley" Derby 3.10.10 was another success.

 Kaitangata Black Gold Bob Scott Memorial Hill Climb, event honours the achievements of the late Bob Scott. Bob Scott won the Kaitangata Hillclimb in 1967.

Black Gold Kai Club Fear Factor Disco held on Friday 30th October 2009 and Gladiator Disco 29th October 2010

Kai Club programme for young people aged 0 to 17 years.

155 riders turned out  to ride through the hills and forestry of Taratu .Starting at Ali and Jill Storers property on Lakeside Road Kaitangata. 26 juniors (12 to 15 years) 118 seniors (16 years and over) took up the challenge of the 52km main track & 11 Pee Wees (11 years and under) rode on the supervised Pee Wee track.

The Kaitangata Swimming Pool celebrated its 40th birthday on the 12th of December 2009.
To celebrate this Kai Club joined together with the Clutha District Council and Tiny from Sport Clutha to have an awesome session at the pool.
The session was free compliments of the CDC and over 50 young people came along and joined the fun.
Thank you to every one for making this an excellent session.

Kaitangata is rich in stories about the origins of the wild horses from- pit ponies that were no longer needed at the coal mines, to horses that were on the farm prior to 1910, when the McCrosties bought the estate. The former owners kept thoroughbreds and the McCrosties believe the horses soon became wild because they hadn’t been handled.
At the beginning of each year the Horses are celebrated with a Wild Horse Trek through McCrosties & City Forest land to celebrate & enjoy these awesome animals.
