Kaitangata- "A Living History"

The Kaitangata & Districts Community Development Programme Digital Strategy project will give all residents the opportunity to increase technical and computer skills.
Kaitangata “A Living History” is the first step in this process.
Supported by partners Kaitangata & Districts Community, Kaitangata Primary School, Clutha District Council, Waikoau Ngai Tahu Runanga and Balclutha Genealogy Society, the project Kaitangata “A Living History” is an open invitation to the community to share their stories, using whichever process is most comfortable to them.
In the main community volunteers and selected Kaitangata Primary School pupils conduct the interviews that are either Video or Audio recorded (depending on the story tellers preference.)
All material, including print and pictorial records will be digitally captured and archived to be accessible through this website and from Kaitangata & Districts Community INC, 17 Eddystone Street Kaitangata, where there is internet access available for members of the community and training in basic computers skills, call (03)4139769 to register interest.
The Digital Strategy is the government's - and the community's - vision for New Zealand to become a world-leader at using information and communications technology (ICT) to realise our economic, social, and cultural goals. Initiatives include the Community Partnership Fund. The strategy was developed by central and local government with wide community and business consultation and launched in May 2005. It provides a framework to encourage "smart" use and uptake of ICTs by communities, businesses and government.
We sincerely thank everyone who has contributed to date.
Please, if you wish to tell your story or support this project as a volunteer in anyway
