Black Gold Bush Bash 25.4.10
Kaitangata Black Gold Bush Bash
Astounding, awesome, machine, mint, the ride of the decade, you guys are legends! Just a few of the words included in comments and feedback from riders taking part in the inaugural Kaitangata Black Gold Bush Bash held Sunday the 25th April.
155 riders turned out in the Kaitangata sunshine for this very successful ride through the hills and forestry of Taratu .Starting at Ali and Jill Storers property on Lakeside Road Kaitangata. 26 juniors (12 to 15 years) 118 seniors (16 years and over) took up the challenge of the 52km main track. Most riders were awestruck by the professional nature of our event and suitably tamed by the challenging and incredibly well presented course. While most managed to complete the course loops twice some had to concede once was enough.
11 Pee Wees (11 years and under) rode on the supervised Pee Wee track.
Thanks to Kai Point Coal Co Limited, City Forest Limited, Wenita, Rayonier, Solid Energy and all private land owners for allowing us access to their land.
Credit goes to Nathan Baldwin and Dallas Storer and the experienced Black Gold event team for once again “Going for gold” by raising the bar and providing a perfect event not only for Kaitangata but the wider region.
Also a huge thank you to:
Dean Bond and Mike Kavanagh of Powerzone Suzuki- main sponsors of the event.
St Johns Balclutha.

There was only one incident which caused one rider to suffer a broken arm. This was incredibly well managed by St Johns, Kaitangata Volunteer Fire Brigade and the experienced marshal team.
